Meaningful work goes beyond earning a paycheck, it creates opportunities for people to stay active, build connections, and continue contributing to their communities. Recognizing this, the Jollibee Group is expanding its inclusive jobs program for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) to Taguig City through a partnership with the city government.
Through a recently signed Memorandum of Agreement, 16 company-owned stores across Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, and Burger King in Taguig will participate in the initiative. Each store is expected to employ two senior citizens and one person with disability, providing them with opportunities to remain productive and engaged.
The expansion strengthens the Jollibee Group’s commitment to creating more inclusive workplaces. Since the program was launched in 2019, it has already opened doors for more than 1,000 senior citizens and PWDs through collaborations with various local government units and participating stores.
Creating More Opportunities Together
The partnership with the Taguig City Government highlights the importance of empowering individuals who still have the capacity and desire to work. It recognizes the valuable contributions that senior citizens and PWDs can continue to make when given the opportunity.
Several city offices will support the initiative. The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) will handle applicant screening, interviews, profiling, and training. The City Health Office will oversee medical examinations and the issuance of occupational permits, while the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs and the Persons with Disability Affairs Office will help promote the program and provide guidance to applicants.
Meanwhile, the Jollibee Group will conduct interviews, orientations, training sessions, and facilitate payroll account openings free of charge for successful applicants.
Work That Brings Purpose and Connection
Qualified senior citizens and PWDs may take on customer-facing roles such as guest relations staff, order presenters, table managers, and drink drawers, positions that allow them to interact with customers and become an important part of the dining experience.
“This program is meaningful because it gives our senior citizens and persons with disabilities a chance to continue contributing in ways that are seen, valued, and respected,” said Joseph Tanbuntiong, CEO of Jollibee Group Philippines and Head of Jollibee Brand Global.
“At the Jollibee Group, we believe that our growth should also create opportunities for people in the communities we serve. Through partnerships like this with Taguig City, we can open more spaces where people can feel productive, connected, and part of something bigger,” he added.
For many individuals, having a job means much more than financial support.
“Work can give people more than income. It can give confidence, friendship, and a renewed sense of purpose,” shared Ruth Angeles, Chief HR Officer of Jollibee Group Philippines and HR Head of Jollibee Brand Global.
“That is why this program matters to us. It reminds us that inclusion is not just a policy or a program. It is something we make real when we welcome people into our teams, support them in their roles, and recognize the value they bring every day.”
As the Jollibee Group continues to grow, the company remains committed to building workplaces where more people can participate, contribute, and thrive, proving that everyone deserves the opportunity to create joyful experiences and meaningful moments within their communities.
