Jollibee Opens PH’s First LEED-Certified QSR in Enrile, Sets New Sustainability Benchmark

Jollibee Philippines is strengthening its commitment to sustainability by integrating energy- and water-efficient technologies across its store network, marking a significant milestone in its environmental efforts. A standout example is its store in Enrile, Tuguegarao City, the first quick service restaurant (QSR) in the Philippines to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Operations and Maintenance (O+M) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, a globally recognized benchmark for green buildings.

Unlike design-only certifications, LEED O+M evaluates how a facility performs in everyday operations, including energy and water efficiency, waste management, and indoor environmental quality. This underscores how sustainability is actively practiced day-to-day within the restaurant, not just built into its structure.
This achievement places Jollibee among the early adopters of operations-focused sustainability in the local QSR industry, setting a new benchmark for smarter, more efficient store management that balances cost efficiency with long-term environmental responsibility.

As businesses continue to face rising utility costs and increasing climate challenges, Jollibee is moving beyond basic compliance by embedding sustainability into how its stores are designed, built, and operated.

“Sustainability is integrated into how we design and operate our stores as we continue to evolve and improve across the network,” said Jollibee Philippines president Ferns Yu, Jr. “We will continue to strengthen this commitment as we build more stores and support the communities we serve.”

Opened in November 2024, the Enrile branch was designed with sustainability in mind and later validated under the LEED program. It features rooftop solar panels that help reduce electricity consumption by up to 30 percent, along with solar water heating systems for kitchen operations.
To further reduce environmental impact, the store also uses solar window films to minimize indoor heat and lessen air-conditioning use, complemented by high-efficiency motors and LED lighting systems.

Water conservation is also a key priority, with features such as motion-sensor faucets, a rainwater harvesting system, and an on-site wastewater treatment facility that allows water reuse for cleaning and maintenance.

These initiatives are part of the Jollibee Group’s “Joy for Tomorrow” sustainability program, which focuses on creating positive impact across food, people, and the planet. Moving forward, the company aims to scale these energy- and water-efficient solutions across more stores nationwide.

By embedding sustainability into everyday operations, Jollibee continues to position itself as a forward-thinking brand that supports both environmental responsibility and long-term business resilience.
