Podcasting in the Philippines is entering a new phase, one that goes beyond viral moments and trending episodes. Today, the industry is being defined by sustained audience growth, loyal fan communities, and creators building brands that stand the test of time.
This year, two beloved Filipino shows, The KoolPals and Dear MOR, received the Spotify Creator Milestone Award, a global recognition program that celebrates podcasts demonstrating consistent performance and strong returning audiences. The award is evaluated quarterly and recognizes shows that steadily grow their listenership over time.
The recognition places the two Filipino podcasts alongside globally known programs such as The Diary of a CEO, hosted by Steven Bartlett, and Critical Role, highlighting how Philippine creators are gaining international attention in the podcasting space.
“Podcasting in the Philippines is maturing,” said Carl Zuzarte. “Success today isn’t about a one-off spike at launch, it’s about building a show that audiences return to week after week. We’re seeing creators expand their formats on Spotify while staying true to their communities. By providing the right insights and support, these shows can grow into long-term creative businesses.”
For The KoolPals, their longevity comes from staying closely connected with their audience and transforming the podcast into an interactive experience. According to host James Caraan, engaging with their listeners has always been a priority.
“We really listen to our community and try to bring their ideas into the show,” Caraan shared. “We keep the engagement alive through videos, online interactions, and live recordings, so the podcast becomes an experience. At the same time, our continuous effort to improve the show never stops.”
Over the past six years, what started as casual barkadahan-style banter has grown into a massive community-driven platform. Today, The KoolPals has nearly one million followers, with fans tuning in not just for the humor but for the camaraderie and relatability that have become part of their weekly routines.
Meanwhile, Dear MOR has built its longevity through emotional connection and consistency. As one of the country’s most recognizable advice-driven audio shows, it has become a comforting presence for listeners navigating love, life, and personal challenges.
“Consistency to us means our commitment to provide quality episodes while ensuring that the stories shared with us are handled with care,” said Mark Marcos. “Dear MOR is nothing without the stories. Honoring them consistently is what keeps us going.”
Spotify’s support for the growing podcast ecosystem in the Philippines goes beyond awards. Earlier this year in Cebu City, The Pod Network and Cebu Creators Circle partnered with Spotify to host one of the city’s first podcast-focused workshops. The initiative aimed to help creators develop their craft and grow their audiences beyond Metro Manila.
As the local podcast landscape continues to evolve, loyal audiences are becoming the foundation for new opportunities, from brand collaborations to live events and creator-led experiences.
One example is The KoolPals’ Rock ‘N LOL Joketober Fest 2025, a sold-out live show that drew more than 1,200 fans for an unforgettable night of comedy and community.
“The ambition we’re seeing across the Philippines isn’t just to launch a podcast, it’s to build something that lasts,” Zuzarte added.
