Drive-to-Earn: VinFast & Green GSM Launch Rentapasada EV Rental Program for Filipino Entrepreneurs
To lower the steep entry barriers facing aspiring ride-hailing drivers, VinFast Philippines and Green GSM have introduced Rentapasada, an innovative drive-to-earn electric vehicle (EV) rental initiative. Designed as a micro-enterprise model, the program eliminates heavy upfront vehicle purchase costs while giving drivers a viable pathway toward eventual EV ownership.
RENTAPASADA PROGRAM AT A GLANCE
• Entry Cost: ₱5,000 initial registration (remaining deposit/fees deducted daily).
• Revenue Share: Drivers keep 90% of earnings (Year 1) & 85% (Years 2–3).
• Herio Green Rental: ₱1,050/day fixed rental rate.
• Limo Green Rental: ₱1,350/day fixed rental rate (7-seater model).
• Fuel Savings: Up to ~₱237,000 saved over 2 years vs. gas crossovers.
• Pathway to Ownership: Option to purchase vehicle based on residual value.
Eliminating Upfront Capital & High Operational Costs
Starting a traditional TNVS business in Metro Manila typically demands hundreds of thousands of pesos in down payments, bank requirements, and rising fuel expenses. Rentapasada addresses these challenges by allowing drivers to hit the road for an initial ₱5,000 registration payment, deducting remaining deposits and TNVS fees gradually from daily earnings.
Instead of taking large cuts, the program’s revenue-sharing model lets drivers keep 90% of their earnings in the first year and 85% across years two and three. Furthermore, participants have the option to buy out their vehicle based on residual value at the end of the contract.
The Electric Advantage: Lower Operating Overhead
By replacing gasoline with electric power, drivers insulate themselves from volatile fuel prices.
Herio Green: Covering 3,500 km per month costs roughly ₱5,600 in electricity, compared to roughly ₱15,500 in gasoline for a comparable ICE crossover—saving over ₱237,000 in energy costs across two years.
Limo Green: The 7-seater MPV boasts a two-year total cost of ownership of ₱1.37 million versus ₱1.53 million for gas equivalents, delivering over ₱162,000 in savings.
Coding Exemption: Under the EVIDA law, EV drivers enjoy number coding exemptions, enabling up to seven full days of operation per week.
