Manila’s cocktail enthusiasts are in for an extraordinary mid-week treat as The Bar at The Peninsula Manila presents “One Night in Shanghai: The Bar Takeover (Series II Vol. II)” on Friday, July 31, from 8:00 PM to 12:00 MN.
For one night only, guest bartender Liao Jien Ming (Ming Liao) will step behind the counter at The Bar for an exclusive guest shift, bringing the high-octane energy and refined craft of Shanghai's world-class nightlife straight to Makati.
Meet the Mastermind: Liao Jien Ming
Liao Jien Ming is no stranger to top-tier mixology. crown-winning 2024 Diageo World Class China Champion and a top-8 global finalist, Ming has established himself as one of Asia's most compelling figures behind the bar.
His impressive career spans key roles across Asia, including heading bar operations at Flair (The Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai Pudong), The Speakeasy (Hotel Muse Bangkok), and The Peninsula Shanghai. Most recently, in collaboration with the Hope & Sesame Group, he launched his moody, shadows-and-light-inspired Shanghai venue, A Bar Has No Name.
Known for blending intricate Asian flavor profiles with seamless technique, Ming's craft focuses on balance, narrative, and storytelling through liquid artistry.
What to Expect: One Night Only
Presented in partnership with House of Suntory (featuring Roku Gin and Suntory Whisky Kakubin), this takeover promises a specially curated cocktail menu crafted by Ming himself.
Guests will get to sample signature creations that highlight Japanese craft spirits interwoven with Shanghai’s dynamic, modern flavor palette—available strictly for four hours only.
