8,000 Runners Turn Ayala Makati Pink as Angat Buhay Kicks Off Nationwide Angat Bayanihan Run
MAKATI CITY, PHILIPPINES — Car-Free Sunday at Ayala Triangle Gardens took on an extraordinary energy as nearly 8,000 runners gathered for the Angat Bayanihan Run—the flagship fun run organized by the Angat Buhay Foundation. Serving as the official kickoff for the organization’s year-long countdown to its fifth anniversary, the event raised funds for community-driven initiatives while highlighting the power of volunteerism.
Since its founding in 2022, Angat Buhay has focused on civic action and mutual aid (bayanihan). Participants lined up for the 1K, 3K, 5K, and 10K categories, turning every stride into direct support for local relief, rehabilitation, and development programs across the country.

Volunteerism on the Ground & Future Legs
Angat Buhay Chair and Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo personally greeted and thanked the runners and organizing teams on stage. During her address, she emphasized the vital role played by Angat Bayanihan chapters nationwide.
“Ang Angat Bayanihan ay parte ng Angat Buhay Foundation—ito yung volunteer groups that we launched after Angat Buhay. Almost all provinces in the country meron po tayong Angat Bayanihan chapters lalong lalo na po pag sakuna. Yung ating mga volunteers ang first on the ground. Yung pinakahuli po natin, yung earthquake sa Gen San, Davao, Saranggani Province until now yung relief and rehabilitation efforts are still being conducted by our Angat Bayanihan volunteers and they are able to do that dahil po sa tulong ninyo,” shared Mayor Robredo.
Mayor Robredo also confirmed that the Makati leg is only the beginning of a nationwide series, with upcoming runs scheduled for Naga, Iloilo, and General Santos later this year.
Novel Firsts, Entertainment, and Brand Partnerships
The run introduced an unprecedented feature for Philippine fun runs: a dedicated SPF reapplication station along the route. Alongside the traditional hydration stops sponsored by Pocari Sweat, skincare brand Hello Glow deployed a spray station featuring its mattifying sunscreen spray, allowing runners to reapply UV protection mid-stride.
The post-race program featured entertainment from Drag Race Philippines stars Brigiding, Precious Paula Nicole, and Viñas DeLuxe (collectively known as the Divine Divas), who brought a high-energy performance to the activity area.
At the finish line, participants received an Angat Bayanihan finisher’s medal. Additionally, Ever Bilena Cosmetics Inc. provided finishers with congratulations cards, tinted lip balms, caps, shades, and tote bags packed with wellness samplers including C-Lium Husk, Ever Bilena Daily Dose Dewy Balm SPF 50 PA+++, and Hello Glow Sun Care Stick SPF 50+.
“We’re delighted to be part of the meaningful fun run organized by the Angat Buhay Foundation. We hope the Ever Bilena and Hello Glow products we gifted to participants added to the excitement and gave them an extra boost as they crossed the finish line,” stated Denice Sy, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of Ever Bilena Cosmetics Inc.
