Inside AIA Philippines’ #RethinkHealthy Summit: How Filipinos Are Changing the Way We Think About Health

A firsthand look at AIA Philippines’ #RethinkHealthy Influencer Summit and how Filipinos are shifting toward a more intentional approach to health, mindset, and future planning.

The event brought together creators, industry leaders, and personalities to talk about something we all deal with but don’t always prioritize: our health. Hosted by AIA Philippines, the summit builds on their Rethink Healthy movement, which encourages Filipinos to take a more intentional approach to wellness, not just physically, but mentally and even financially.
Instead of feeling like a formal conference, it felt more like listening in on honest conversations you don’t usually hear in everyday settings.

Why We Delay Healthcare
One of the first sessions, “Rethinking Healthcare,” featured MediCard CEO Julian Mengual and Grace Quinto. They talked about something a lot of us can relate to: why Filipinos tend to avoid healthcare until it’s too late.

The reasons weren’t surprising:
  • Cultural habits of “waiting it out.”
  • Concerns about cost
  • Lack of clear information
It made me realize how normal this mindset has become. For many, going to the doctor isn’t the first step; it’s the last resort.
Functioning, But Mentally Exhausted
The “Rethinking Mental Health” discussion felt the most personal. Wil Dasovich, alongside Cat Triviño and Dr. Francine Bofill, talked about being high-functioning but still struggling. It’s that quiet kind of burnout. Where you’re productive, showing up, and doing what you need to do, but still feel drained underneath.
What I appreciated was how simple and honest the conversation was. No big statements, just a reminder that doing okay on the outside doesn’t always mean you actually are.

The Real Impact of Influence
In “Rethinking Influence,” Solenn Heussaff, Nico Bolzico, and a TikTok representative shared how influence today goes beyond visibility. What stayed with me was the idea that people connect more with authenticity than perfection.

Whether it’s fitness, mental health, or everyday routines, the content that resonates most is the kind that feels real. And that’s what actually inspires change, especially when it comes to building healthier habits.

Redefining Strength
The last session, “Rethinking Strength,” featured Amotti, the winner of Physical: 100 Season 2. Instead of focusing purely on achievements, he talked about the discipline behind them, showing up consistently, sticking to routines, and building habits over time.
It wasn’t about pushing extremes, but about staying consistent. And that made the idea of “strength” feel more realistic and sustainable.

What tied all the conversations together was a clear message: Filipinos are slowly shifting toward a more intentional approach to health. It’s no longer just about reacting when something goes wrong, but about being mindful of everyday choices, from not delaying checkups to prioritizing mental well-being. Walking away from the summit, it didn’t feel like I needed to overhaul my lifestyle overnight. Instead, it was a reminder to focus on small, consistent actions, building better habits, paying attention to mental health, and planning for the future. Health is becoming less about drastic changes and more about awareness, consistency, and deliberate choices. The #RethinkHealthy Summit made it clear that this shift in mindset is already underway.
