Grab Your Golden Ticket: ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ Musical to Sweeten Manila this July 2026
MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Following a sold-out, critically acclaimed run in Shanghai, the world’s most famous chocolate factory is officially opening its gates in the Philippines. GMG Productions, in association with Broadway International Group and Broadway Asia, is proud to announce that Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will make its highly anticipated Manila premiere at The Theatre at Solaire from July 8 to July 26, 2026.
This isn't just a play; it’s a full-sensory journey into a world of pure imagination. Based on the beloved 1964 novel, the musical follows young Charlie Bucket as he wins a life-changing tour of Willy Wonka’s mysterious factory. From the iconic chocolate rivers and mischievous Oompa-Loompas to mind-bending illusions by Las Vegas magic designer Tim Clothier, the production is designed to make the impossible feel real for audiences of all ages.
“Willy Wonka is the king of imagination,” says Clothier. “Being able to design new stage wizardry for that character is a dream come true.”
Fans can look forward to hearing timeless classics from the 1971 film like “Pure Imagination” and “The Candy Man,” alongside a fresh, high-energy score by the Tony Award-winning duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray).
