Bigger, Better, and More Wonderful: ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ Set to Redefine Immersive Theater in Manila
MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The gates of the world’s most famous chocolate factory are officially swinging open, and the view from inside is more spectacular than we ever imagined. Following an exclusive press launch at The Theatre at Solaire, we can confirm that Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, arriving this July 8–26, 2026, is much more than a musical—it is a groundbreaking sensory spectacle designed to leave the Filipino audience in awe.
The press launch gave us a thrilling firsthand look at the heart of the show. We were treated to a special live performance by Daniel Plimpton (Willy Wonka) and
Cohan Toukatly (Charlie Bucket). Plimpton brings a charismatic, mysterious energy to Wonka, while Toukatly’s performance as Charlie is pure magic, reminding us all why this story remains a timeless favorite. But the real "Solaire twist" lies in the technology. This production is "bigger, better, and more wonderful" than any previous iteration, utilizing Hologauze 3D technology, immersive projection mapping, and innovative video mapping that turns the entire stage into a living, breathing world. Working with Las Vegas illusion designer Tim Clothier, the creative team has integrated "stage wizardry" that makes chocolate rivers flow and Oompa-Loompas appear out of thin air.
“We wanted to create a world where the impossible feels possible,” the producers shared. With Solaire’s world-class acoustics and intimate seating, the Philippine audience won't just watch the show—they will be inside the factory. From the eye-popping visuals to the toe-tapping classics like "Pure Imagination," this is the ultimate lifestyle event for 2026.
