HUAWEI is calling on artists and creators from all over the world to bring their imagination to life through the GoPaint Worldwide Creating Activity 2025, a global art competition celebrating the boundless potential of digital creativity. Open for submissions until December 31, 2025, this worldwide event offers both professional artists and hobbyists a platform to showcase their work using the HUAWEI MatePad and the powerful GoPaint app.
The competition highlights the future of digital artistry, encouraging participants to explore new ways of storytelling through digital painting and animation. This year’s edition introduces an Animation category, allowing creators to transform still images into moving stories with GoPaint’s advanced frame-by-frame animation tools. Whether through intricate sketches or polished visual narratives, the contest gives artists a stage to express creativity without limits.
Winners of the HUAWEI GoPaint 2025 contest will receive international recognition and exciting rewards. Twenty Honorable Mentions will each be awarded USD 1,000 and an official certificate. Selected artworks may be showcased at HUAWEI press events, exhibitions, global campaigns, and featured on social media or HUAWEI Themes as digital wallpapers. Winning creators will also have the opportunity to share the story behind their artwork through exclusive video interviews, inspiring others to embrace digital art.
The contest features five categories: Digital Watercolour & Ink, Animation, Sci-Fi Art, Cutting-Edge Paintings, and Narrative Art. Each category represents a unique storytelling style, from traditional brushwork to futuristic visions. Artists aged 18 and above can submit up to 30 original artworks created on any HUAWEI tablet. Submissions must be uploaded to the official contest website in JPG, PNG, or MP4 format, keeping the original EXIF data intact. Images must not exceed 30 MB at 300 dpi, while animations can go up to 400 MB with 1080p resolution. Each piece must also include a short description that captures its story and meaning.
A Prestigious Panel of Judges
Submissions will be evaluated by an international panel of judges known for their excellence in art and storytelling. Among them is Dezio, a French urban artist and co-founder of Urban Art United; Laura Gallon, co-founder of the Arte Laguna Prize and board member of MoCA Italia; acclaimed film director Jia Zhangke, President of the China Film Directors’ Guild; and world-renowned illustrator Victo Ngai, the first ethnic Chinese recipient of the Hamilton King Award from the Society of Illustrators. Together, they will assess each entry based on creativity, originality, and emotional impact.
At the heart of this creative movement is HUAWEI’s GoPaint app, a professional-grade digital painting software designed for the HUAWEI MatePad Series. GoPaint turns every tablet into a dynamic studio, offering 150+ customizable brushes, layer management tools, and frame animation support. The app now supports 15% more large canvas layers, allowing artists to create detailed works with smooth, lag-free performance.
GoPaint’s AI portrait line draft tool helps artists streamline their workflow by automatically generating clean outlines, giving them more time to focus on coloring, shading, and creative expression. Whether experimenting with watercolor, oil textures, or futuristic concepts, GoPaint gives creators a platform to paint, animate, and innovate freely.
