Get a personal peek at the new IKEA STOCKHOLM 2025 collection. I checked out the pieces at Opus Mall and shared my thoughts on the latest designs, from comfy sofas to natural materials, perfect for Filipino homes.
It was awesome checking out the new IKEA STOCKHOLM 2025 collection at Opus Mall! I've always liked mixing old and new styles, so seeing these items up close was a real treat. IKEA really did a great job with this collection, showing that nice, well-made furniture can be affordable and perfect for homes here in the Philippines.
What I really liked right away was how the collection felt like it was made for real life inside your home. It’s not just about filling space; it's about making a nice place for everyday moments, from my busy mornings to those chill weekends with family. The vibe was so welcoming and warm, really showing what 40 years of good Scandinavian design means. I could easily picture these pieces in my own living room, making it even more comfy and stylish.
The focus on natural stuff and good handwork was super clear. I got to touch the solid wood, feel the soft wool, and admire the pretty glass and rattan items. You could tell that each piece was made with a lot of care. The quality was definitely there, and it felt like these things were made to last, which is a big plus for me.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of IKEA’s STOCKHOLM collection, and what better way to celebrate than with its most expansive lineup yet, 93 new pieces that truly reflect the soul of Scandinavian design. As soon as I entered the collection showcase, I could feel the difference. There was warmth, texture, and a kind of natural beauty that made you want to slow down and stay a while. It’s the kind of design that feels personal and lived in, not showroom-perfect, but perfect for real life.
The space was thoughtfully arranged to let guests not just see, but feel the comfort that the STOCKHOLM collection offers. Whether you were lounging on a deep velvet modular sofa or running your hand over the smooth rattan details of a cabinet, it was clear: this collection isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about everyday living.
One of the most engaging parts of the event was a special segment where we got to hear directly from Ricardo Pinheiro, IKEA Philippines Country Retail Manager; Madel Mercado, Sales Leader of IKEA Philippines; and special guest Wil Dasovich, who all shared their personal favorites from the STOCKHOLM collection.
Ricardo expressed how proud he was of this edition of STOCKHOLM, describing it as a collection that truly reflects IKEA’s commitment to making high-quality design accessible to many. “This version of STOCKHOLM is designed with quality, affordability, sustainability, form, and function in mind, so it feels both global and deeply personal. It’s warm, welcoming, and made to last, whether you’re in a city condo or a spacious family home,” he shared. His words resonated deeply as we all saw how these pieces could blend seamlessly into Filipino homes of all sizes and styles.
Madel also chimed in with her favorite pieces, highlighting the mouth-blown glass vases and the handwoven wool rugs that add subtle texture and personality to any room. She emphasized how the collection’s natural materials, wood, rattan, and linen are not just beautiful, but chosen for how they age gracefully over time. You could tell there was a genuine pride in how these designs reflected a deep respect for craftsmanship.
Wil Dasovich, known for his love of travel and minimalist living, shared how impressed he was with the functionality and character of the pieces. He mentioned how the collection’s design, rooted in Scandinavian simplicity but built with lasting materials, fits perfectly with his lifestyle. One of the pieces that caught his attention was the foam-free pine wood sofa designed by Nike Karlsson. Built from natural latex, woven fabric, and coconut fiber, it’s a unique blend of comfort and sustainability, proving that good design can also be good for the planet.
Beyond the personal picks, what really stood out to me was how every guest at the event gravitated toward different pieces, a testament to how diverse and versatile the STOCKHOLM 2025 collection really is. From large centerpiece sofas to detailed glass chandeliers and woven rattan chairs, there was something for every taste and every type of home.
Rattan makes a strong return in this collection, and I couldn’t help but smile when I saw the handcrafted sliding-door cabinet, a quiet nod to STOCKHOLM 2017, where the material first made waves. This time around, it feels even more refined and relevant. The lounge chair in light Bouclé paired with a rattan frame is something I could see in a sunroom or reading nook, and the handwoven textures made it all the more charming.
The mouth-blown glass vases were another surprise. I initially thought they were purely decorative, but when I got closer, I noticed the subtle irregularities that made each one unique. There’s something so charming about knowing no two are exactly alike. I even joked to a fellow guest that I could already imagine one of them on my coffee table.
What makes STOCKHOLM 2025 even more impressive is how it embraces IKEA’s Democratic Design philosophy, offering products that are functional, beautiful, durable, sustainable, and most importantly, affordable. Every item I saw from the handmade wool rugs to the leaf-patterned lampshades and stoneware table sets felt intentional and well-crafted, yet still within reach.
Textile designer Paulin Machado’s nature-inspired works were another highlight. Her rugs, in particular, bring a slice of Scandinavian forests indoors, with motifs of birch trees and rich seasonal colors woven into every thread. I also found myself drawn to the Merino wool throws and pillows; they had just the right amount of boldness to make a space pop.
In a world where fast furniture is everywhere, STOCKHOLM feels refreshingly slow. Each piece tells a story, made with time, care, and the intention to last. And as IKEA Philippines Country Retail Manager Ricardo Pinheiro put it during the launch, these pieces were made to fit all kinds of Filipino homes—whether it’s a compact condo in the city or a larger family space in the suburbs.
If you’re looking to refresh your space with designs that are both timeless and grounded in quality, STOCKHOLM 2025 is well worth a look. The entire collection is now available at IKEA Philippines in the Mall of Asia and online. I honestly left the store feeling inspired and with a growing wishlist.
Home is where life happens, and this collection beautifully reminds us of that.
