Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is officially coming to Netflix with a new 10-episode season. Expect a darker, more emotional storyline, fresh characters, and even more action in the streets of Night City.
Netflix has officially announced that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is in the works, bringing fans back into the chaotic streets of Night City with a brand-new story. Revealed during Anime Expo 2025, this upcoming season won’t continue the events of season one but instead introduces fresh characters and a whole new narrative set in the same dystopian world inspired by Cyberpunk 2077.

While fans are still processing the emotional ending of season one, which followed the tragic story of David Martinez, Netflix’s teaser for the new season makes it clear: “David’s Dead.” The teaser cleverly mixes old clips with concept art from the next chapter, giving viewers a taste of what’s to come without revealing too much. It sets the tone for a darker and more intense experience, something the creators are clearly leaning into.
Season two will be directed by Kai Ikarashi, who previously directed the standout episode “Girl on Fire” from season one. Ikarashi is expected to bring a visually gritty and emotionally sharp approach to the new storyline. Bartosz Sztybor, the returning showrunner and writer, shared some insight during the Anime Expo panel. He said that while season one was built to make people sad, season two will push the emotional and violent boundaries even further. His words say it all: “It will be sadder, darker, more bloody, and more raw.”

There is no official release date yet, but the show is confirmed to run for ten episodes, just like the first season. This time, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 explores a new path, a story of redemption and revenge in a city where violence and spectacle go hand in hand. According to the official synopsis, it aims to answer a core question: “When the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”
This announcement also comes at an exciting time for Cyberpunk 2077 fans. CD Projekt Red confirmed in May that the sequel to the video game is in development, showing the studio’s continued commitment to expanding the Cyberpunk universe. It’s clear that both the game and its anime adaptation are deeply connected in tone and theme, making it an exciting time to be part of the fandom.

If you're into tech, gaming culture, or just love strong storytelling in animation, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 should be on your radar. With a new creative direction and bold storytelling, this next season promises to dive even deeper into the raw, often brutal heart of Night City.

Stay tuned for more updates as Netflix reveals the official premiere date.
