HONOR is set to launch the Magic V5, its thinnest foldable phone yet at just 8.8mm. With a sleek design, powerful specs, and premium features, here’s what to expect ahead of the official release.
HONOR is preparing to introduce its next big release, the Magic V5, on July 2 in China, and ahead of the official event, the company has shared a first look at the device. What stands out immediately is just how slim the Magic V5 is. According to HONOR, this foldable phone will measure just 8.8mm when folded, making it one of the thinnest devices in its class. That’s as slim as the brand’s own Magic 7 Pro, which isn’t even foldable.
This ultra-slim design sets a new standard for foldables. While many similar devices often sacrifice portability for performance, HONOR seems to have struck a balance with the Magic V5. Though the full dimensions of the unfolded device haven’t been shared yet, the folded thickness alone makes it a standout.
Official renders show off the updated look of the Magic V5, including a glossy gold finish paired with a textured back and a redesigned hinge. The back also features a large, eye-catching camera island, which is expected to house three different camera sensors. Based on early leaks, this includes a main camera, an ultrawide lens, and a periscope telephoto camera, which may feature a powerful 200MP sensor.
When it comes to screens, the Magic V5 will likely include an 8-inch main foldable display along with a 6.45-inch outer cover screen, giving users the flexibility of both a phone and tablet-like experience. Internally, it’s expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version chipset. This processor is one of the top options currently available and should handle multitasking, gaming, and content consumption with ease.
Battery life is also getting a boost with a 6,100 mAh battery, one of the largest we’ve seen in a foldable phone. Paired with 66W fast charging, users can expect quick top-ups and solid all-day usage even with heavy tasks.
The HONOR Magic V5 brings together style and performance in a compact foldable form. With its slim build, top-tier specs, and refreshed design, it looks like HONOR is aiming to take the lead in the foldable smartphone market. As the launch date approaches, more details are sure to come out, but from what we've seen so far, the Magic V5 is shaping up to be a major contender in 2025’s premium smartphone lineup.
