Sarah Geronimo Makes History as Billboard PH Woman of the Year (2024)

Sarah Geronimo solidified her reign as a music powerhouse by becoming the first-ever recipient of the Woman of the Year award at the Billboard Philippines Women in Music ceremony. The prestigious event was held on March 22nd at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura.

Geronimo received the award, presented by her husband Matteo Guidicelli, in a heartfelt ceremony. During her acceptance speech, she expressed her hopes for a more collaborative and supportive music industry in the Philippines.

"Kung meron man akong hiling o pangarap para sa industriya o sa buong bansa natin, ito ay ang malakas na suporta at paniniwala at respeto sa kakayanan ng bawat isa," she shared, advocating for an industry that embraces diversity and empowers all artists.

This recognition adds another milestone to Geronimo's already impressive career. Earlier in March, she was honored at the Billboard Women in Music Awards in Los Angeles, becoming the first Filipina artist to receive recognition at the international event.

"I humbly accept this award on behalf of every amazing, excellent Filipina, Filipino artist back home and all over the world," she said during her LA speech, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity and highlighting the talent of Filipino artists.

Geronimo is also gracing the cover of Billboard Philippines' special Women in Music print issue, alongside other female music icons like Hitmaker Moira dela Torre, Powerhouse Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Icon Pilita Corrales, Rising Stars BINI, and Rule Breaker Ena Mori.
