Singapore Airlines just raised the bar for long-haul travel again. The airline unveiled its next-generation cabins across all four classes, backed by an investment of more than S$2 billion (around ₱98 billion).
When and where you'll see them
The new cabins will be introduced starting the second half of 2027. They'll go on 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range aircraft, plus SIA's new Boeing 777-9 fleet. The 777-9 gets all four new cabins, while the A350s get the new Business Class, with First Class introduced on the A350-900ULR for the first time.
First Class: a bed for two
The headline feature is the new First Class double bed, which SIA calls the largest in commercial aviation at 80 inches long and 60 inches wide combined. Travelling together? You can open the privacy divider between the centre seats, which move together to form a two-seater sofa before turning into the bed.
Other First Class touches:
- Sliding doors at every seat
- 100% cotton linens, a duvet and a choice of pillows
- A breathable mattress topper by German bedding brand Paradies
- A large table for face-to-face dining with a companion
Business, Premium Economy and Economy
Business Class gets better ergonomics for more restful sleep, more privacy, an adaptable personal space and companion beds. Smart cabin controls in First and Business will even remember your preferred settings across trips. Premium Economy and Economy get more space, added comfort and new entertainment options.
Designed with travellers
SIA says the cabins were shaped by research with over 5,000 frequent travellers, customers, staff and industry experts. Design firms PriestmanGoode, Designworks and Factorydesign worked on the different cabins, with Collins Aerospace and RECARO building the seats.
"Singapore Airlines' next-generation long-haul cabin products will ensure that our customers travel more comfortably than before," said Lee Lik Hsin, SIA's Chief Commercial Officer.
Who designed it
SIA says the new cabins came from extensive focus groups, interviews, surveys and concept testing. The common theme: travellers want more privacy and comfort, controls that are easy to use, and a personal experience that adapts to whether they're working, dining, relaxing or sleeping on board. The new cabins are built around those four activities.
Quick take
For Filipinos, SIA is a popular way to reach Europe and the US through Changi. We'll have to wait until late 2027, but a proper double bed in the sky is the kind of upgrade that makes long-haul flights feel like part of the vacation. Honeymooners, start saving those miles.
