HP Philippines and HyperX gathered gaming creators, media and the local gaming community at Moon Rabbit Cafe in San Juan for HyperX Center Stage. The star of the night was the HyperX OMEN MAX 16, the flagship of the new HyperX OMEN lineup, and its spec sheet is the kind that makes PC gamers lean in.
The specs
- Processor: Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU
- Display: 16-inch 2.5K OLED, up to 240Hz
- Cooling: OMEN Tempest Cooling Pro, with a third fan for heavy gaming sessions
- Maintenance: a Fan Cleaner function that helps keep dust out of the system
An RTX 5090 paired with a fast OLED panel puts this squarely in top-tier territory. OLED gives you deep blacks and punchy colors, and 240Hz keeps fast-paced shooters smooth.
The third fan is a practical detail. Thin, powerful laptops often struggle with heat, so extra cooling should help it hold performance during long sessions. The Fan Cleaner feature is a nice bonus for anyone gaming in our dusty, humid conditions.
One brand to rule them all
The bigger news is a branding shift. HP is bringing its HyperX and OMEN gaming lines together under HyperX as its master gaming brand. The portfolio now covers:
- Gaming laptops and desktops
- Monitors
- Peripherals such as headsets, keyboards, mice and microphones
- Software including OMEN Gaming Hub, OMEN AI and HyperX NGENUITY
OMEN AI Beta offers one-click performance optimization, adjusting hardware, operating system and game settings for you, and it learns over time.
"By bringing together our gaming systems, peripherals, and software together under HyperX, we want to give gamers more ways to personalize their setups," said Aimen Tan of HP Philippines' Consumer Personal Systems Category.
Community first
Beyond the demos, the event had interactive gaming stations and a VALORANT 1v1 exhibition match between gaming creators. It's a good reminder that gaming launches here are as much about community as they are about hardware.
What we still don't know
HP didn't share local pricing or availability for the HyperX OMEN MAX 16 in the release. Given the specs, expect it to sit at the very top of the gaming laptop market.
Who it's for
If you're a serious gamer or streamer who wants desktop-class power you can carry around, the OMEN MAX 16 is worth watching. For everyone else, the unified HyperX ecosystem is good news too, since it should make building a matching setup of laptop, headset and peripherals simpler.
Keep an eye on HP Philippines' channels for pricing and release details.
