We usually think of foodpanda as the app we open when we're too tired to cook. For World Food Month, the company is highlighting a different side of its work: helping make food more accessible to communities that need it most, through an initiative called "Let's Do Our PAU-rt."

What it is
"Let's Do Our PAU-rt" brings foodpanda together with national and local government, NGOs, schools and local enterprises to support food security and community development. Activities ran across Metro Manila, Tuguegarao and Cebu, and align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals on Zero Hunger and Partnerships for the Goals.

Where the help went
Here's a quick look at what the initiative covered:
  • Donor for the Day: foodpanda supported Walang Gutom Kitchen in Pasay and Cebu, which serves individuals in street situations. Partner delivery riders joined in Cebu.
  • Kitchen volunteering: foodpanda employees cooked ready-to-eat meals with Scholars of Sustenance Philippines and the Quezon City Social Services Development Department, bringing food to foodpanda delivery partners and child development centers in Quezon City.
  • Local livelihoods: Through pandamarket, foodpanda worked with the Taguig Kakanin Cooperative, Simbayanan ni Maria Multi-purpose Cooperative and DTI NCR to support local cooperatives and merchants.
  • Food vouchers: Assistance went to persons deprived of liberty at BJMP Makati City Jail.
  • Tuguegarao: foodpanda supported the Hapag-Pag-Asa Program of the University of St. Louis.
Why it matters
Food insecurity is still a real issue for many Filipino families, and it often sits right next to us in the same cities where food delivery is booming. Seeing a delivery platform use its network, from riders to merchants, to get food where it's needed is a meaningful use of its reach.

I also like that it isn't only about donations. Supporting cooperatives like the Taguig Kakanin Cooperative helps local producers earn, which makes the impact last longer than a single meal.

"At foodpanda, we believe that making life delicious goes beyond delivering food—it also means helping make food more accessible to communities that need it most," said Leopoldo De Castro Jr., Finance Director at foodpanda Philippines.

Beyond World Food Month
foodpanda says these efforts reflect a commitment that goes beyond a single month, and stresses collaboration as key to building more resilient communities.

How you can help
You don't need to be a big company to do your part. Volunteering at a community kitchen, buying from local cooperatives or simply not wasting food at home all add up. And the next time you order through pandamarket, consider checking out the local merchants and cooperatives listed there.

Small actions, done by many, make a real difference.
