Coca-Cola x Enchanted Kingdom Tapon to Ipon PET Bottle Recycling

A day at Enchanted Kingdom usually means rides, snacks and plenty of drinks. Now, your empty bottles have a better place to go. Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP) and Enchanted Kingdom have installed Tapon to Ipon collection bins around the Santa Rosa theme park, along with benches made from recycled plastic.

Where to find the bins
The Tapon to Ipon bins and benches are set up at three key spots:
  • Victoria Park
  • Agila the EKsperience: Saribuhay
  • Spaceport
Each station comes with signage explaining that clear PET plastic bottles are recyclable, as a reminder to segregate instead of tossing everything into the regular trash.

The bins accept clear PET bottles of any brand, not just Coca-Cola products. They're part of Tapon to Ipon, the Coca-Cola system's nationwide collection program for recovering and recycling clear PET bottles.

A 14-year partnership
Coca-Cola and Enchanted Kingdom go way back. Over 14 years, the partnership has brought the Coca-Cola tunnel at the Space Shuttle ride, Sip the Magic! Coke Floats, Christmas Caravan activations and Coca-Cola drinks throughout the park.

The recycling push also lines up with Fiesta ng Saribuhay, Enchanted Kingdom's 31st anniversary celebration, which carries a sustainability theme.

What they're saying
"Through our collection bins, guests can take simple everyday actions, such as properly segregating used PET bottles, and contribute to a collective objective of recovering and recycling more PET plastic bottles," said Atty. Marc Cruz Cox, Stakeholder Relations Director of CCEAP.

Enchanted Kingdom Chairman and President Cesar Mario Mamon said the start of the Tapon to Ipon partnership is especially meaningful because it coincides with the park's anniversary, and added that EK looks forward to more initiatives with Coca-Cola that encourage Filipinos to care for the environment.

Why it matters
Theme parks see huge foot traffic, and a lot of that comes with single-use bottles. Putting clearly marked bins right where families hang out, with benches that show what recycled plastic can turn into, makes the right habit an easy one. It's a small change, but in a place that welcomes thousands of guests, small habits add up quickly.

It's also a nice teaching moment for kids. Showing them that a used bottle can become something useful, like the bench they're sitting on, could stick better than any lecture.

On your next visit
Look for the Tapon to Ipon bins at Victoria Park, Agila the EKsperience: Saribuhay and Spaceport. Drop off your empty, clear PET bottles there, and if you can, give them a quick rinse first.
