VinFast EV Rental Program Helps Filipino Ride-Hailing Drivers Save More on Daily Costs

For many Filipino ride-hailing drivers, every peso counts. With fuel prices continuing to fluctuate, managing daily expenses has become more challenging, especially for those navigating Metro Manila’s busy streets for hours on end. Now, a new electric vehicle rental program from VinFast is offering a fresh alternative, one that could help drivers take home more while spending less.

For Arnel Dizon, who has been driving for nearly eight years, rising fuel costs have become an unavoidable part of the job.

"Some days, you start with a full tank, and by the end of the shift, a big part of what you earned is already gone," he shared.

Like many drivers, Dizon had considered switching to an electric vehicle, drawn by the promise of lower operating costs. But the upfront investment of purchasing a new car often felt out of reach.
That changed when he discovered VinFast's upcoming EV rental model through social media. Designed specifically for transport service drivers, the program allows users to rent electric vehicles for commercial use, with daily rates starting at around PHP 1,000.

"You don't have to buy the car outright," Dizon said. "You can start earning immediately, and your expenses become much easier to predict."

VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, continues to strengthen its presence in the Philippines. Following its strong performance in 2025, when it ranked as the country's second-largest battery electric vehicle brand, the company is now expanding its footprint further with innovative mobility solutions and a growing charging network.

The rental program is expected to launch first in major urban centers, including Metro Manila, where demand among ride-hailing and transport drivers remains high.

One of the program's biggest draws is VinFast's complimentary charging offer at V-Green charging stations, available until March 2029. For drivers, this effectively eliminates one of the largest recurring expenses.

For Pasig-based ride-hailing driver Alvarado, that benefit was a game-changer.

"The free charging was what convinced me," he said after recently visiting a VinFast dealership to learn more about the Herio Green.

Tailored specifically for service use, the Herio Green is based on the VF 5 and joins the larger Limo Green under VinFast's rental lineup. Both models are designed to meet the demands of professional drivers.

For drivers covering 200 to 300 kilometers daily, fuel expenses for a traditional gasoline vehicle can easily range from PHP 24,000 to PHP 36,000 monthly. With VinFast's current free charging incentive, those energy costs can effectively drop to zero.

That translates to potential annual savings of PHP 300,000 to PHP 400,000—money that could go toward household expenses, savings, or other priorities.

Beyond cost savings, the Herio Green is built for the realities of urban driving. Its range of over 300 kilometers per charge can comfortably support a full day's work, while fast charging from 10% to 70% takes only around 30 minutes.

"I usually stop anyway," Alvarado noted. "If the car charges while I take a break, it doesn't feel like lost time."

For drivers like Dizon, the numbers are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

"I'm not there yet," he admitted. "But it's starting to feel like a move I'll make sooner rather than later—especially with that free charging deal."

As electric mobility continues to gain momentum, VinFast's rental model could offer Filipino drivers a smarter, more practical path toward a more sustainable and profitable future.
