The Polaroid Flip blends analog charm with modern features. With sonar autofocus, a four-lens system, and smart flash, it brings a simple and creative way to capture real-life moments.
The Polaroid Flip introduces a new way to enjoy instant photography. It brings together the look and feel of classic Polaroid cameras with features that make it simple to use, even for those who are more used to smartphone cameras. The design is clean and compact, with a unique flippable lid that protects the camera when not in use and gives it a stylish edge when it’s out and ready.
Inside the Flip is a four-lens system that automatically adjusts depending on how far the subject is. There’s no need to switch settings manually — the camera does the work. It shifts between lenses for close-up, near-field, mid-field, and far-field shots, covering distances from 0.65 to 2.5 meters. This makes it easier to capture more detailed close-ups or sharper landscapes with a sense of depth.
The autofocus is powered by a sonar system that measures distance using sound waves. This approach works in both bright and low-light settings, helping the camera stay focused even in total darkness. Paired with Polaroid’s most powerful flash yet, the Flip can light up subjects as far as four meters away. The flash is built into the camera’s lid and is large for an instant camera, offering enough brightness for night or indoor photos.
There’s a small viewfinder LED on the back that adds a layer of support when framing a shot. It lights up red to indicate if the subject is too close or if the lighting is too bright or dark. This helps avoid wasted film, especially for those new to instant photography. The back display also shows shooting modes and settings at a glance, while the app connection allows more control from a phone when needed.
The Flip runs on USB-C and supports both i-Type and 600 film. It stays close to the feel of analog cameras but adds a few modern touches that make it easier to use in everyday life. Polaroid describes it as more than just a camera — it’s meant to bring people back to real moments, to slow down and hold onto printed memories that feel more lasting than scrolling through hundreds of digital shots.
The Polaroid Flip will ship starting April 29 for members and will be available in stores on May 13. Pricing is set at $199.99 in the US, £199.99 in the UK, and €219 in Europe.
