xiaomi launches the redmi Projector 3 Lite in China for just $96. Here's what makes this budget projector stand out, from image clarity to smart features.
xiaomi has introduced a new addition to its growing lineup of home entertainment devices with the launch of the redmi Projector 3 Lite. Currently available for pre-order in China at CNY 699 (roughly $96), this compact projector is one of the most affordable options from xiaomi yet. Even though it's a budget-friendly model, it still manages to include features that cater to casual users looking for a reliable home projection experience.

The redmi Projector 3 Lite supports a physical resolution of 1080p, allowing it to deliver decent visual quality, especially in dark or low-light environments. It offers a brightness rating of 180 CVIA lumens, which is enough for everyday viewing in dim rooms. What helps it stand out even more is its custom-made sealed optical engine and full-glass lens, which xiaomi says allows for a clear and crisp image even when using side projection—up to a 20-degree angle without major quality loss.
To keep things running smoothly, xiaomi has updated the cooling system. This newer system is quieter than previous versions, reducing noise levels by about 2 dBA. While that might not sound like a big drop, every bit helps when you're watching a movie or playing games in a quiet room.

Ease of use is a key focus with this model. The redmi Projector 3 Lite comes with a customized ToF sensor paired with an AI algorithm that handles both auto-focus and auto-keystone correction. That means you don’t have to constantly adjust the picture manually—it’ll take care of that on its own shortly after being turned on.

Inside, the projector is powered by the Amlogic T950S chip, along with 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. While that may not be enough for heavy multitasking, it’s more than capable of handling streaming, video playback, and basic usage. It also supports dual-band WiFi and HyperOS Connect, allowing it to work smoothly with other smart xiaomi devices in your ecosystem.

The projector has a 1.2:1 throw ratio and can project images up to 100 inches, making it suitable for small to medium-sized rooms. However, one key thing to note is that this Lite version does not come with built-in speakers. If you're planning to use it for movie nights or presentations, you'll need to connect external speakers.

Lastly, the projector includes short-wave blue light filters and holds SGS low blue light certification, which means it’s a bit easier on the eyes, especially during extended viewing sessions.
While xiaomi has not yet announced plans for a global release, the redmi Projector 3 Lite is shaping up to be a solid option for those who want a decent projector at a very reasonable price. If you're looking to set up a home theater on a budget or just want something compact for casual use, this new launch from xiaomi might be worth keeping an eye on.
