The World's Biggest Book Sales is back in Manila and the Big Bad Wolf Sale is promising some great selections of books of up to 90% off! Invading the World Trade Center in Pasay City, the sale will be open 24 hours non-stop for 11 days straight from February 22 till March 4! Oh, and admission to the sale is FREE! So, What will you expect in this year's sale?
Bigger & Better
Guests can expect to find two million new books at bigger, better discount rates of 50% - 90% across different genres. Customers can choose from the wide range from novels, young adult titles, thriller, science fiction, cookbooks, architecture books, design books, business books and so much more!

New Titles & AR
When I was going around, I saw that there was some new selection of books basing on the feedback and customer demand from last year's sale. This time, they promised more fiction books from authors such as JK Rowling, Paulo Coelho, Rick Riordan and more. I did see a lot of Rick Riordan books but for the elusive JK Rowling, I didn't see the set books, just some special releases, and spin-offs.

One thing that's also cool is the Little Hippo Augmented Reality (AR) books for children. It's combining technology and some cool children content making reading more fun and interactive. The technology sure is amazing and having the book come-to-life give children a magical experience as they see their favorite characters talking and engaging with them. The AR Books features a variety of children’s stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs and many more. Its interactive learning feature makes learning fun and entertaining using its cutting-edge AR technology to revolutionize reading for young ones.

Helpful Cause
Aside from bringing the best books to all book lovers, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale also believes in giving back to the community. Staying true to its ethos of making books accessible to everyone, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale continues its Red Readerhood Programme here in Manila and continues its efforts to furnish Gawad Kalinga’s community libraries and schools with books. The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale has donated 1,000 books to Gawad Kalinga this time to further benefit Gawad Kalinga’s communities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in an aim to cultivate a culture of reading and improving literacy rates. Customers are also encouraged to take part in this initiative by donating books purchased from the Red Readerhood corner.

Cool contest!
While books will continue to be the center of attention for the next 11 days, customers who are visiting the sale are encouraged to keep their eyes peeled for on-ground contests where 20 lucky winners will be selected daily. There is also one exclusive grand prize to be won – a bookshelf worth of books. The winner for this grand prize will be announced on March 3, 2019.

PayMaya Perks!
Big Bad Wolf also partnered with PayMaya as the official digital payments partner. Book-lovers can conveniently pay for their books via cashless experience using the QR code. Customers just need to use their PayMaya app's QR, no need for cash or coins. Aside from the convenience, PayMaya customers are in for a surprise as they have a chance to get 1%, 10%, or 100% cashback for their Big Bad Wolf Book Sale purchases each time they pay using PayMaya QR from today until March 4!
That means they can purchase their favorite romance novels, mystery thriller series, business titles, or children’s books, among others, and earn as much as 100% of their purchases back, or up to P1,000 per transaction and a maximum P2,000 cashback during the promo period. In my case had around 600 remaining balance (I should have reloaded enough, grrrr) I selected books that's almost 600. I paid and I immediately received a 10% rebate! :) You'd also get some cool PayMaya goodies when you purchase via PayMaya QR.
Part of the proceeds of the sales during Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Manila 2019 will go to Gawad Kalinga, also a partner beneficiary of PayMaya for its #PayMayaItForward program

Oh did you know that you can also get this 30% OFF coupon for your next visit when you purchase reach around 2k I think? Cool Huh?

Organized Chaos
With some new books coming out at certain hours of the day, sometimes it's going to get a bit crazy especially when there are some really cool books on shelves. At least in my case during the press & VIP preview. But don't fret, the information desk and staff are friendly and they will accommodate you as much as they can. At the checkout counter, it's pretty organized, there are a lot of cashiers available. There may be a wait time before you get there, but it also depends on the crowd by the time you're there.
There's also another cue after the cashier, the security check where you are required to show receipt of your purchase. Take note that carts and trolleys you use inside the event are not allowed beyond this point so it would be wise to bring your own if you are planning to buy a lot of books. I saw some kids bring some travel luggage with them and some even have push carts/crates with wheels. Now that's being prepared!

Other Tips (To make the experience better)
  1. Wear comfortable shoes
  2. Bring less stuff. Since you'd be going around, make sure you lessen the things that you need to worry about.
  3. Bring a piece of luggage or your own cart, if you're purchasing in bulk (or planning to open up another bookstore). Though there will be staff to help you out, having storage with wheels will make your life easier.
  4. Research ahead. For books that you see and would like to get. Make sure you have enough data also on your phone to check book reviews real-time.
  5. Bring a tissue, wet wipes or a sanitizer for your hands and/or face. Browsing through books tends to get your hands dirty.
  6. Food & Liquids are not allowed.
    • There are some concessionaires there. Food, coffee, and water are available inside
  7. Bring enough credit or cash. Coz you'll never know. :)
  8. Enjoy! The fun is in the search of that book!

Founded in Malaysia in 2009, the sale will be celebrating its 10th year anniversary back at its home country and being a brand that is greatly loved across the cities they have visited, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale aims to bring the sale to many more cities in the Philippines to spread the joy of reading.
