Resorts World Manila is cooking something big. Scheduled to take the Newport Performing Arts Theater on May 9 with the biggest and most extravagant production yet. This year, they are doing Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Just for the information of everyone, Priscilla is a multi-award-winning musical that has taken the world by storm. The musical premiered in October 2006 in Sydney, Australia and opened on Broadway on March 20, 2011 to critical acclaim.

Truly, Resorts World Manila is pushing for our local talents because this year, it will be an entirely Filipino productions. Powerhouse Filipino big names in cast and creative team has joint together to give us the biggest Resorts World Manila production yet.

We recently attended a media launch of Priscilla at the Genting Club and it was pimped out 'drag'! The color, music and the feel of the place was very 'Drag' from the music to the decorations fo the place. The mood and energy was just infectious.

Was able to peek at their ongoing photoshoot, I took a few shots myself. After a few minutes, the band started playing some classic 70's- 80's music. Jon Joven, Resorts World Manila's Prince of Broadway also performed.
Public Relations department team Ms Joy Andrade and Mr. Archie Nicasio welcomed the guests and media who atteneded and then introduced the director Jaime Del Mundo.
The director shared that he is privileged to be working with these all-Filipino talent in this production. After the performances, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo came out and called out the casts and acknowledged the other vital roles in the production.
She mentioned the amazing lineup of glitzy wardrobe creations by Priscilla chief costume designer Edgar San Diego.  The costume designer shared, “Like any stage production of this sort, we wanted to show the most striking colors and the most fabulous effects in our costumes, while using the most actor-friendly and low maintenance materials,”

Aside from the amazing costumes, viewers should also watch out for the immortal music that comes in this production, hits such as Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got To Do With It?”, the Village People’s “Go West”, Alicia Bridges’s “I Love The Nightlife”, Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”, Dionne Warwick’s “I Say A Little Prayer”, The Weather Girls’ “It’s Raining Men”, Peaches and Herb’s “Shake Your Groove Thing”; plus two Kylie Minogue medleys featuring her hits “The Locomotion”, “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”, “Confide In Me”, “Come Into My World”, “Spinning Around”, and a whole lot more of yesteryear’s timeless disco anthems that even today’s generation will appreciate.

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert has scooped awards in Sydney, London, and New York. Now it is here in the Philippine's with world-class performers from the Philippines. Personally, this year's major production of Resorts World Manila I think would be the most fun and most laughs. So who's ready to sing immortal hit songs and be entertained on May 9?
