Slappy Cakes now open in Manila!

Guess what I had yesterday afternoon... PANCAKES!!! Well not just any pancakes, I had a Slappy one. :) Yes, I got invited to the soft opening of Slappy Cakes in Eastwood. (Yey!)

Well, to those of you who doesn't know Slappy Cakes is, it opened in Portland, Oregon, USA back in 2009. Founded by the guy on the photo. I had a chat with Adam Fuderer, one of Slappy Cakes' six owners and he said that he is excited on their first store here in Manila and many more to open soon here in the Philippines. Their basic concept? is to offer one-of-a-kind dining experience in a fun and interactive setting.

In the US, Slappy Cakes has been featured nationally on The Cooking Channel, Rachael Ray, Women's Day Magazine, and was awarded the title of "America's Best" by Food Network as on of America's top ten dining destinations. Well, thank god they are here in the Philippines already!

Together with friends armed with a heavy stomach, arrived at the place and it was packed! Luckily we found a seat and did what we had to do. :)

So did others who enjoyed customizing their pancakes. :)

Well, after doing some cooking and taking turns at the pan, what sets this apart from any dining or any breakfast restaurant is that there are griddles built into each table. It gives customers the opportunity of cooking their own pancakes right at their table. Cool right?? The interactive experience that we had sparked our creativity and just basically had fun customizing our pancakes. :) I think that was what Slappy Cakes is about. The fun-filled dining experience is so great. The kids and the kids at heart sure did have fun writing their names down on the griddles.

From Portland, to Tokyo to the Philippines, they will be invading other countries soon. Such big move for the local group that is handling the brand now. Mother Spice Food Corporation is being headed by Mr. Eric Teng who is the CEO for the brand.

Under this group is also the know Thai restaurant Mango Tree, Mango Tree Cafe and the Mango Tree Bistro. Adding Slappy Cakes under the brands that they handle, Mother Spice Food Corporation will also be adding Coca restaurant which they will open soon. I had a chat with Mr. Eric Teng for a while and they said that they will open around 6 branches this year, and more next year. I think they will open some stores in the north and also expand on the south. I think they will also open a store in Sky Ranch..

Well some of you guys who wants their usual breakfast, don't worry, they also have a breakfast selection with all-American flavor.
I love these Country Fried Bacon with Caramel Sauce!
Also love their Slappy Screw ! around 3 of this and these will definitely screw you. :)

But wait, Slappy Cakes also offers a breakfast line that's uniquely Filipino called Slappy Happy-noy.
Well, I had fun eating the Tocino-Potato skewer. :) I had like eight!

So whether you are up for an American breakfast feast or your usual Filipino favorite, you can't go wrong with Slappy Cakes. They will surely bring you pleasant and memorable breakfast experience, any time of the day.

Spotted KC Montero and Rhian Ramos on the opening. What a good looking couple!

As they say, Portland soul is now in Manila. I would have to agree that  :) Enjoyable, friendly and a welcoming atmospheres. Where else can you have that all day breakfast dining experience? Slappy Cakes. All day fun dining destination. :)
