It was my first time ever to watch opera on stage, and i was pretty psyched about it. I got invited by Marvin and Troy at the last leg of FilFest Cultural Foundation's show "TUTTI OPERA" (opera for everyone) which is also presented by Insular at the Insular Life Auditorium, Insular Life Corporate Center, Insular Life Drive Filinvest Corporate City, 1781 Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
The show is entitled HADES LADIES: A DECOMPOSED OPERA WITH 8 SOPRANOS.
The 8 sopranos sang Arias from Tosca, Madame Butterfly, Lakme, Romeo & Juliet, Carmen & others.
the 8 sopranos are Rachelle Gerodias, Meliza Reyes, Cristina Joaquin, Mar Jeannelle Roldan, Lena McKenzie, Joy tamayo, Camille Molina and Jennifer Uy.

Specially participated by Jon Joven, Emily Olfindo, George Schultz, 20 members of the UST Symphony Orchestra and Marvin Gayramon.Marvin Gayramon- One of the most sought-after classical singers and music theater performers in the country today. He hastoured extensively around the Philippines and in key cities in Asia, the United States and Canada participating in music festivals, competitions and doing critically-acclaimed concerts and show stoppers. A few of his credits include Madame Butterfly, Gianni Schicci, La Traviata, Le Nozze Di Figaro, Sussanah, Slow Dusk, May Day Eve, why flowers bloom in may among many others. marvin was also part of the opening team of Hong Kong Disneyland as a Principal Vocalist playing Quasimodo in The Golden Mickey's show.
The show started just in time as we sat on our seats. cellphones are prohibited, they didn't ask us to put it in silent mode, they asked us to turn it off, so i didn't bother taking out my camera and take picture of Marvin.
Anyways, i got these pics from Marvin's Facebook account. (these are not my shots, photo credits to Antonette B. Olavere. grabbed from the album of Ms. Fides Cuyugan Asensio here.)
From what i got in watching that particular play (correct me if i am wrong) is that these women who came a from different walks of life, different stories and plays, after their death and suicide, all went to hell, and upon arriving there, they are then somehow haunted by their past, and then bam! they re-enact scenes from these famous operatic pieces.
The only plays i recognize are the ones below.

It was an awesome experience and a great opportunity to be exposed again on performing arts. I miss the stage, the acting and the singing. The play gave me a flash back on the moments during high school and college. This definitely helped me push myself in finishing the short story i am writing at the moment.
On a different note:
Juliet on the picture above, played by Lena McKenzie. She also played as Joana in REP's SWEENEY TODD last year Nov - Dec 2009.

Sweeney Todd was also an awesome play, (special thanks to Nix for the tickets)
I love the movie, i love the music score and loved it how REP staged it. Missing the arts. with that...
