AIA Philippines, formerly Philam Life and the domestic arm of AIA Group, together with BPI AIA Life Assurance Corporation (BPI AIA), its bancassurance partnership with Bank of the Philippine Islands, received four honors at the Insurance Asia Awards 2026 for initiatives spanning healthcare, community development, talent development, and bancassurance.

The recognitions highlight the companies’ continued efforts to make health and financial protection more accessible to Filipinos while creating opportunities for employees, students, and communities. These initiatives support AIA’s purpose of helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.

The Insurance Asia Awards recognize excellence in innovation, strategy, and impact across the Asia-Pacific insurance industry.

AIA Philippines received three awards for programs focused on healthcare access, community development, and employee development.
Its healthcare arm, MediCard, earned the Health Insurance Initiative of the Year award for its integrated health ecosystem designed to help Filipinos take a more proactive approach to their health. Rather than focusing only on care when illness occurs, the initiative supports customers across different stages, from prevention to recovery, through a network of more than 1,567 hospitals and clinics nationwide.

The company’s EDGE (Early Development & Growth Experience) program was also recognized as the Community Initiative of the Year. Designed to help university students explore careers in insurance and financial services, the inaugural program received more than 2,000 applications from leading universities and onboarded 18 interns, achieving a 100% offer acceptance rate.

Beyond recruitment, EDGE also provided participants with opportunities to develop financial literacy and gain firsthand experience in the insurance and financial services industry.

Meanwhile, “Grow@AIA: Growing Talent, Driving Impact” received the Training & Development Initiative of the Year award. Through programs including the flagship NAVIGATE Workshop and Curriculum Based Development (CBD) Program, the initiative helps employees build capabilities aligned with real business needs while supporting continuous learning and professional growth.

“These back-to-back Insurance Asia Awards reaffirm our commitment to an inclusive, purpose-led culture where people can grow, contribute, and belong,” said Ellen Imasa, Chief HR Officer, AIA Philippines. “When our people thrive, we are better equipped to serve our customers, support our communities, and deliver lasting value.”

BPI AIA, meanwhile, was recognized with the Bancassurance Initiative of the Year award for integrating insurance into customers’ everyday banking experience.

Through the BPI Mobile App, customers can access protection solutions such as InstaProtect, with insurance offerings incorporated into the digital banking experience and payday notifications. By bringing protection closer to customers through digital channels, the initiative aims to make insurance more accessible and affordable while helping address the Philippines’ insurance protection gap.

“As the needs of our customers continue to evolve, so must the role of insurance, not only as a source of financial protection, but as an enabler of better health, greater access to care, and stronger communities,” said Melita Teo, President and CEO, AIA Philippines. “These awards reflect our commitment to making protection more accessible and relevant to the people we serve, while fostering a workplace culture that empowers our employees to bring our purpose to life.”

The four recognitions underscore AIA Philippines and BPI AIA’s continued focus on making protection more accessible, advancing health and well-being, developing future talent, and creating meaningful impact for Filipino communities.
