This Earth Day 2026, LG Electronics Philippines turned sustainability into meaningful action, rallying employees for an e-waste collection initiative that made a real impact. From March 31 to April 21, LG Electronics Philippines successfully collected a total of 1,200 kilograms of electronic waste, reinforcing its commitment to responsible waste management and environmental stewardship.

In today's digital world, gadgets and appliances have become part of everyday life. But when these devices reach the end of their lifespan, proper disposal becomes just as important as their use. Recognizing this, LG encouraged employees to take an active role in protecting the environment by responsibly disposing of old electronics, including televisions, computers, mobile phones, batteries, and small appliances.

To ensure safe and environmentally sound disposal, the collected e-waste was turned over to TRAME OIL, an accredited hazardous waste management facility. Employee volunteers also participated in the destruction of e-waste at LG's former warehouse in Pasig City, further highlighting the company's hands-on approach to sustainability.

The initiative is part of LG's larger global sustainability efforts. Across its operations worldwide, LG continues to recycle waste generated at both domestic and international business sites, maintaining a recycling rate of over 95%. To date, the company has collected an impressive 5.01 million tons of e-waste globally. LG also operates electronic waste collection and treatment services in 89 locations across 54 countries, including the Philippines, where these services have been available since August 2022.
E-waste remains one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally, and improper disposal can significantly impact water, air, and soil quality. Through initiatives like this, LG aims not only to support its sustainability goals but also to inspire communities and individuals to adopt more responsible disposal habits.

"Earth Day is an important reminder that sustainability is built through everyday action," said Nakhyun Seong, Managing Director of LG Electronics Philippines. "Through this e-waste collection initiative, we are encouraging employee participation in responsible disposal practices while supporting LG's broader sustainability efforts. At LG, we believe innovation must come with responsibility, and what our employees have shown today is a true reflection of our commitment to a sustainable future."

By turning awareness into action, LG Electronics Philippines continues to show that even small, everyday choices can lead to a greener, more sustainable tomorrow.
