In a time when more Filipinos are becoming mindful about sustainability and everyday waste, the Jollibee Group continues to show how businesses can make a meaningful environmental impact. The company recently received a Special Citation at the Zero Waste to Nature Recognition Awards, led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), for exceeding its baseline recovery targets under the country’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework.
The awards program, organized with the Philippine Alliance for Recycling and Materials Sustainability (PARMS) as organizer partner and technical committee head, in coordination with the National Ecology Center, recognizes companies that go beyond compliance. Awardees demonstrate leadership in plastic waste recovery, waste-reduction initiatives, innovation, and inclusive circular-economy practices.
The Jollibee Group earned recognition for surpassing its plastic recovery commitments while launching additional sustainability initiatives in collaboration with government partners. Among these are the Jollibee x Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) Abot Kamay para sa Laguna de Bay Program and the Jollibee x Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Plastic Waste Recovery and Rewards Program.
These initiatives have helped communities actively participate in waste reduction efforts. As of the end of 2025, the programs have collectively recovered 16,223 kilograms of plastic waste—demonstrating how simple actions like proper waste collection and recycling can create measurable environmental impact.
In its citation, the awards body highlighted the company’s “consistent progress in Extended Producer Responsibility compliance, supported by strong partnerships with local government units and recovery partners.” It also noted that the Jollibee Group’s structured programs illustrate how large-scale food service operations can strengthen the recycling value chain and support the country’s Zero Waste to Nature goals.
The recognition reflects the growing role businesses play in helping Filipinos adopt more sustainable habits. For the Jollibee Group, these initiatives are part of its Joy for Tomorrow sustainability agenda, which integrates environmental responsibility into its long-term growth strategy, showing that caring for the environment can go hand in hand with serving communities nationwide.
As sustainability becomes part of everyday living, efforts like these highlight how collective action from businesses to communities can help build a cleaner and more responsible future for the Philippines.
