Sony unveils the WH-1000XM6, its newest flagship headphones featuring a powerful QN3 processor, enhanced noise cancellation, and a compact, travel-friendly design. Available for pre-order now with an exclusive raffle for a trip to Coron, Palawan.
Sony has officially launched its latest flagship noise-cancelling headphones, the WH-1000XM6, and it’s clear the company listened to feedback while delivering major improvements across the board. At first glance, the XM6 closely resembles its predecessor, the WH-1000XM5, but Sony has made key changes that elevate the user experience. One of the biggest upgrades is the return of a foldable design, a feature missing from the XM5. With the addition of two hinges on the earcups, the XM6 headphones are once again easy to pack and perfect for travel, something many fans of the older XM4 model missed dearly.
Sony didn’t stop there. The headband has been redesigned with a wider top for better weight distribution, and the earcups are wrapped in soft memory foam that feels light even after hours of use. The headphones still feature intuitive touch controls, a USB-C charging port, an audio jack, and a dedicated Bluetooth/power button. A new magnetic clasp on the slimmer carrying case replaces the old zipper design, which makes it easier to access your headphones quickly.
Under the hood, the Sony WH-1000XM6 boasts a new custom-built QN3 processor, delivering a big leap in noise cancellation and audio performance. This chip is seven times more powerful than the QN1 found in the previous generation. Combined with 12 microphones – four more than the XM5 – the XM6 promises top-tier ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) performance. It’s designed to block out more background noise across different frequencies, making it easier to immerse yourself in music, calls, or podcasts no matter where you are.
Battery life is still a strong point. You can expect up to 30 hours of playback with ANC on, and up to 40 hours with ANC off. There’s also quick charging – just three minutes gives you about three hours of playback. Unlike some models, you can also continue using the headphones while charging, which is super useful on long days.
Audio quality has also been upgraded thanks to newly designed 30mm drivers. While the driver size remains the same as before, Sony has enhanced the internal structure for better clarity, especially in higher frequencies. This makes vocals crisper and instruments more distinct. There’s also upscaling tech that transforms regular stereo audio into spatial sound, making your listening experience more immersive whether you’re watching a movie or streaming a playlist.
For calls, Sony has stepped up its game with six beamforming microphones and a new AI-based Noise Reduction system. Trained with over 500 million voice samples, this helps the WH-1000XM6 pick up your voice more clearly and cut out background sounds even in noisy environments. Whether you're taking a call or using voice commands, the clarity is noticeably better.
The WH-1000XM6 comes in three sleek colors – black, silver, and blue – and is priced at PHP 27,999. Pre-orders are now open from May 16 to June 20, and Sony is adding some excitement to the launch with a raffle promo: those who pre-order will have a chance to win a trip to Coron, Palawan.
With powerful noise cancelling, improved comfort, better sound, and a more practical design, the Sony WH-1000XM6 sets a new benchmark for premium wireless headphones. Whether you’re commuting, traveling, or just enjoying a quiet moment at home, these headphones are built to keep up.
Let me know what you think – is this your next upgrade?
