Resorts World Manila Welcomes Avery Johnson

I recently attended Resorts World Manila’s welcoming event with NBA’s ‘Little General’ Avery Johnson. The former player, coach and NBA legend graciously welcomed everyone and shared this quest in supporting international sports tourism.

NBA Legend Avery Johnson was the former head coach of the Dallas Maverick offered tips and insights during his short talk at the Cantonese restaurant, Passion at Resorts World Manila last September 13 (Saturday). He shared his thoughts on Philippine Basketball and his passion that drives him to the sport.

The RWM Chief Operating Officer Stephen Reilly was also there and shared “We are extremely proud and appreciative of the trust the NBA has shown towards RWM through this exciting partnership,”. The event coincided with RWM’s 5th Anniversary Give Me 5 celebrations, is part of a larger partnership between RWM and the NBA to provide basketball-crazed Filipino fans with a chance to experience the world’s top professional basketball league.

During Little General’s short talk, he shared that with his height of 5’7” it was difficult penetrating the giant’s game. All he did was worked hard and had a big heart for the sport. “You must have heart for the sport” says Avery Johnson at the Resorts World Manila welcoming event.

By the way, During the event, the Laker Girls was also there! My first encounter with the girls was during the NBA Fan Fest at Glorietta. See post here

Check out new photos of the LA Laker Girls. :)

The partnership that RWM and NBA has is having the RWM members access to the different NBA happenings such as NBA viewing events, NBA 2K tournaments, as well as NBA 3X Philippines 2015 and Jr. NBA/ Jr. WNBA reception parties. Members also get to join the Fly Away Promo where lucky fans stand the chance to win opportunities to watch NBA regular season, All-Star, and playoff games live. Now how about that for partnership?

RWM has hosted NBA events in the past, most recently a welcome party for NBA stars Wesley Johnson of the Los Angeles Lakers and DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors last July as part of NBA 3X Philippines 2014 presented by Sprite and Eric Gordon of the New Orleans Pelicans and James Harden of the Houston Rockets during the event’s 2013 installment.

Last year, the integrated resort also welcomed former NBA MVPs Kobe Bryant and Derrick Rose when they visited the country and conducted interview sessions at Maxims Hotel and Marriot Hotel Manila respectively.

RWM continues to be at the heart of leisure, hospitality and entertainment in the Philippines and Asia, while positively contributing to the country’s tourism efforts through its offering of non-stop world-class thrills since opening in 2009.
