The Huawei brand has now officially opened its first shop in the Philippines at the Annex Cyberzone of SM North EDSA last May 31, 2014. The shop showcases a range of devices including smartphones, mobile broadband, phablets and tablets. Mall-goers got to experience and test the mobile devices displayed inside the Huawei shop.

Mall-goers were in for a treat when Huawei brand ambassador Jasmine Curtis-Smith graces the event launch. Jasmine shares that “It’s so inspiring to see Huawei’s concept stores because it allows customers to really experience everything that the brand has to offer,” she said. “Huawei is not just about the phone functionality, it also offers a premium experience without hurting your wallet.”

“Huawei’s concept shops aspire to be the forefront of mobile devices bringing its consumers nothing but the latest, said Charles Wu, country manager of Huawei Technologies Philippines. “We have expansion plans in place to open additional stores in key cities in the Philippines...."

The official shop opening coincided with the launch of Ascend G6, dubbed as P6 mini.

The Ascend G6 boasts an 8-megapixel camera with AF BSI f/2.0 aperture in the rear and a 5-megapixel front camera. You can take detailed 88-degree wide-angle shots and explore endless creative options with additional features such as multi-shot capture, horizontal shooting and panoramic functions.

This smartphone is equipped with Huawei’s signature Voice Photo function, allowing you to control the shutter using only your voice. Through this app, you can also add an extra dimension to your social media posts as it allows you to take a photo accompanied by a 10-second audio clip, transforming your photos into multimedia art.

The Ascend G6 sports a 4.5-inch qHD 960 x 540 LCD display, encased in a sleek 7.5 mm body, weighing only 115g.

It runs on a powerful quad-core 1.2 GHz processor and a robust 2000 mAh lithium polymer battery plus up to 30 percent power saving feature, allowing you to multitask and have fun for much longer.  The unit also has an LTE version, which will arrive a later date.

“I love taking groufies with family and friends. This is why I love Ascend G6,” said Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Huawei Ascend’s brand ambassador. “It has 10 levels of ‘face beautification’ which allows you to professionally edit your selfies and groufies right after you take them.”

The Ascend G6 is similar in design and interface as the aspirational Ascend P6. The difference is the much lower price which dropped to PhP 8,990 during the launch. The discounted Ascend G6 also came with a selfie pod or monopod, perfect for taking selfies and group shots or ‘groufies’.

For the aesthetically conscious, this unit takes after the Ascend P6’s ‘double C’ design which feels good in the hands and looks sleeker than most smartphones of the same price range. The Ascend G6 is available in a range of colors including black with light gunmetal grey or rose gold highlights and white with pink or champagne gold highlights.

The Huawei Ascend G6 is available in Huawei’s concept stores at SM North EDSA and SM Megamall, both located at the Annex Cyberzone. The Ascend G6 is available at the suggested retail price of PhP 9,990.
