[Movies] Elvis Movie Review

0
Baz Luhrmann, Austin Butler, Tom Hanks. I don't know what else I can say to convince viewers of how good this movie is.

The movie is about the life and music of Elvis and it was beautifully narrated through the wonderful storytelling and transitions from the young Elvis to his last years.
The best moments for me were when Austin's character was performing, singing, and smirking on stage. There's just something about that guy that has a resemblance not just with the look, the moves, and the voice but also the swag and presence that gives the movie its extra shine.

I couldn't say anything bad about the flow of the story and the sound /music executions. It was magnificently done with taste.

The main characters in Butler and Hanks show a genuine and complicated relationship. Hanks playing a troubled character, somewhat a villain is rare. Add in the mix of Elvis's wife, which I honestly think could have been a bit more, and also Elvis' relationship with his dad establishes the tension and adds friction to the story. The movie also has an amazing supporting cast to complete the different personalities & influences in Elvis's life.

I was looking for more insights into what Elvis was like off stage and I expected that to be shown more. Maybe that was the only comment that I have, not sure if this falls into Baz or Butler's delivery.
Elvis I think is a movie that can stand on its own as long as You're not too critical of other details of the film. I still standby its good direction, great performance of the cast, music design, and storytelling.
Piece of advice to those watching. Enjoy the film as it is. This is a movie that should not be compared with other biopic movies. Don't expect anything, but expect what you would on an Elvis and Baz Luhrmann film.
