Kiehl’s Innovates using their heritage ingredient, Calendula

Kiehl’s Philippines unveiled the Calendula Serum-Infused Water Cream in a recent event held at the Gallery by Chele in Taguig a few days ago. Some of you might not know but the Calendula Petal in the 1960's was introduced to customers by Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Toner. It is currently Kiehl's #1 best-selling toner globally.
Kiehl's chemists continued to harness the time-tested effectiveness & benefits of Calendula so they launched the Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash in 2014. Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydrating Mask was launched in 2017 and now, Kiehl's welcome a unique addition to the Calendula family, the New Calendula Serum-Infused Water Cream.
So what exactly is a Calendula? Native to the Mediterranea, Calendula is known for its skin-soothing properties and has been a highly regarded herb in both Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine for many centuries. What's amazing here is that the concentrated Calendula Serum is housed inside the unique architecture of Kiehl's formula while in water phase. When in application, the serum infusion transforms and delivers hundreds of micronized Calendula Petals and Calendula Extract directly to the skin.
But before they are even added to the formula for processing, they are first "steeped" at a high temperature for precisely ten minutes to allow for maximum release of the petal's skin-soothing properties. Once the components have been released, the whole petals are then added to the formula for mixing. Then during the mixing phase, the petals become crushed into hundreds of micronized petals. Now that's a lot of work!
“We know our customers love Calendula, so Kiehl’s chemists formulated a water cream featuring that iconic Kiehl’s ingredient and took it to the next level by infusing it with a Calendula serum, providing the efficacy of the Calendula petals in a new texture” shares Roberta Weiss, Head of Product Innovation for Kiehl’s. “Through a unique formulation technique, the water cream utilizes our highest concentration of Calendula Flower Extract in a formula that helps to soothe and refresh skin while also providing a visible glow.”
Kiehl’s tested the formula and found the Calendula Serum-Infused Water Cream has multiple benefits.
Clinical testing showed the serum-infused water cream:
  • Improves the look of fine dry lines
  • Makes skin texture look and feel smoother
  • Boosts skin’s radiance & suppleness
In just one week
  • 98% of participants thought skin felt relieved from discomfort
  • 98% of participants felt skin redness appeared reduced
  • 96% of participants thought skin looked even-toned
  • 96% of participants thought skin felt smooth & soft
  • 94% of participants felt skin looked glowing
Now, I'm not yet a regular user of Kiehl's. I've been hearing the brand and I got introduced to Kiehl's during their Ultra Light Daily Defense Aqua Gel launch, and I've been using it for a couple of days especially when I'm out most of the day. I've yet to try some of their Calendula line and I think I'll start with the toner. Maybe I'll try it for a week and see the benefits of it on my skin.

During the launch, guests in attendance had the chance to enjoy light activities. Additionally, brand representatives from Kiehl’s Philippines were stationed all throughout the venue to allow guests to experience the Calendula Serum-Infused Water Cream.
