Resorts World Manila's CINDERELLA. First Impressions.

Was invited to attend the gala premiere of Cinderella at their beautiful Newport Performing Arts Theater thanks to the wonderful team of RWManila for making me part of this.

Okay, we all know the story and this time, it's Resorts World Manila's take in telling the Cinderella story, yes we know the ending but you'll be curious how they would be able to pull off the scene changes. The production is directed by Michael Stuart Williams. This version is somewhat similar than other musicals or play that is staged, with a detailed and amazing set design, supported by big LED the projects and changes every scene. The LED at the back is a really big help, however some transitions or some 3D mappings / designs was a little rough on the edges. It could have been done better but its pretty much unnoticeable.

Christian Bautista and Karylle Tatlonghari was playing that night and they were just great on their roles. I was amazed with their line exchanges, they are really comfortable with each other and had really good chemistry. As for their singing, well, lets just say it didn't have the LSS effect on me. There were some pitchy parts, but overall its ok. The supporting cast like the the fairy grandmother, the step-mom and the step-sisters. I just live the step-sisters, they lighten up the mood and really is amusing. The Step-sisters are portrayed by Maronne Cruz and Giannina Ocampo.

Stepmom was played by Sweet Plantado-Tiongson and she was really good. She was able life the scene with her presence and just gave Cinderella and good hard time. The Fairy Godmother played by Mechu Lauchengco-Yulo was also something to look forward to... It's always refreshing to hear her sing.

There were two acts with around 6-7 acts each. The production wasn't long (I think) or maybe I was just enjoying the show so much.

A few things to look out for....
1. Surprises
2. Costume change
3. Glass Slipper.
4. Set change & Set Design.
5. _ _ _ _ works. (I don't want to be a spoiler but it caught me off guard)

Overall, I think that its a really nice production and I think that the whole family would enjoy this especially the kids. So good job to the Resorts World Manila team! :)
