[Review] Samsung Galaxy Buds Live

0
I've actually never tried any buds or earphones from Samsung before so this will be a first for me. A wireless earbuds brand that is always pitted against the Apple AirPods, the Samsung Galaxy Buds live features a bean-like design that is iconic and ergonomic. Available in 3 color options, Mystic Bronze, Mystic Black, and Mystic White.  Honestly, at first, I didn't know how to plug those buds into my ear.
There are no corners in this one or protruding parts, the shape just flows and you can actually put it on your ear by sliding the bottom part of the earbuds to the lower part of your ear then place the top of the earbuds and adjust the fit so that it sits well in your ears. Just make sure you put the left and right on the correct side. It takes getting used to, but once you got the hang of it, its all good. Here's how you wear them
The shape stands out and curves just give an iconic & jewel-like and natural look. The look of the case and Galaxy Buds is polished off and has a glossy finish. Its size is not too big and fits easily on the hand when you're on the go. In the short time that I was using it, it did receive some hairline scratches on the case with normal use.
I'm not sure if you're like me, but I didn't know that the sound was in collaboration with AKG. Known to produce quality sound, AKG made sure that there are clear notes may it be high or low. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live has a 12mm speakers and having a large driver and bass duct gives a nice deep bass and sounds.

FEATURES
The Galaxy buds Live has live Sound with ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) which I was able to identify immediately. It cancels out loud ambient noise like a passing airplane, train, or bus and helps give focus on what you need to be hearing. Using it for calls isn't bad either. It has one inner mic on the right and two MICs on the left for a total of 3MICs plus an accelerometer that enhances speech quality during phone calls.
I mostly use the Galaxy Buds Live for music and games. While it performs well on these moments, there will be times when the noise-canceling performance will not be that impressive. Canceling out noise as we know needs to have a proper seal from the earbuds to your ear, if there's no proper seal between that it will have some outside noise into whatever it is you are doing with your Galaxy Buds Live so you have to ensure that these bean-like buds sit well on your ear.

The game mode in Labs menu in Galaxy Wearable app improves audio latency while playing games. All you have to do is to turn it on. Another cool feature is the Buds Together where you can have Hassle-free music listening and also share music with someone.

Pairing is this with your phone is not that hard either. Pair it like any other Bluetooth device and you're good to go, and yes it also pairs with your iPhone.
During the time of my review, I experience very few hiccups. There was a time my phone disconnects when I'm just a few meters away. Sometimes I don't hear notifications or Waze directions when I'm playing music. Usually, the music should mute for a bit for you to hear the notifications or directions but these were just only a couple of times. Generally, it's not a deal-breaker. I guess this is where the Buds Together feature comes in.

The PUI or Physical User Interface of the sensitive touch function is very convenient and useful. There are not many quirks or misses when I do multiple taps and holds to use its features. Another feature I like here is the wireless and quick charging capabilities. If you're looking to adjust and customize the controls and EQ of the sound, be sure to download the Galaxy Wearable App.

BATTERY & CHARGING
Charging for five minutes on the Galaxy Buds Live gives you an hour of playtime but it also depends if the ANC is enabled. On a full charge, the Buds can run for 6 hours (buds only) with the case, it can run for up to 21 hours, this is with the (ANC On). You can also charge this on compatible wireless chargers or a Samsung phone that supports Wireless Power Share.

GOOD STUFF
Wireless Charging / Quick Charge
Unique Design
Bluetooth 5.0
Decent microphone quality
Battery life

NOT SO GOOD STUFF
So so sound quality
Noise Canceling is just okay.

Putting the Buds back on the wrong slot will not let you close the case.
SHOULD YOU BUY IT?
Samsung mobile users, especially the ones who have the most recent ones will surely get the most use out of these earbuds. It supports Samsung Scalable Codec giving you high-quality audio and a good strong connection.

Even though the Buds Live doesn't seal the ear, the noise-canceling actually kind of works especially if you like being aware of your surroundings. If you also want something that makes a statement compared to the usual knockoff Airpods design then this is a good option for you.

If you're on the fence and don't know if you should go with the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live or the Apple Airpods, then go for the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live. You get a wireless charging case with almost the same features. The fit is better too!
