Yahoo! Rocks to support OPM!

By December 20, 2011 , , , , , ,

Hard rain and some flood in the parking lot of Mall of Asia didn't stop people and fans from watching and supporting local artists promote OPM.

Just in case you are wondering what this is all about. The Yahoo! Rocks is an advocacy concert that promotes original Pilipino Music. Supported by emerging artists and mainstream bands across the three cities if Manila, Davao and Cebu.

Poor Cameran, He was stuck on this lift and he has this umbrella, raincoat, some plastic on his body taking a shot of the performers. And just by observing, I think that what he had wasn't enough to cover him up. But! the show must go on. :)

Yes, we were there! the bloggers stayed! Below is Azrael from azraelsmerryland.blogspot.com

Below is Chinky from http://www.theshowbook.info/ who was also there to brave the rain. :)

It was still raining after being at the venue for almost more than an hour

But when it hit the 3 1/2 mark it stopped. :) Sandwhich made the crown wild and more and more people joined the crowd in the middle.

The People flocked and braved the rain, last December 8, some with raincoats, umbrellas and some just drenched and enjoyed the outpouring blessing and support of the heavens  to this joyous event. The event happened simultaneous across Manila, Cebu and Davao with the country's top music icons including Wolfgang, Urbandub, The Dawn and Imago. 50 acts from various genres including rock, pop, indie and  soul/R&B.

So you ask how were these bands selected? The people spoke and voted via online voting at http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/yrocks.

Along with Yahoo! I also hope that this musical platform will create opportunities for the up-and-coming musicians to do a collaboration with the established bands. There will be a final roster of 12 "Breakthrough Acts" and they will be judged beased on Originality (40%), musicality (30%) and Chemistry (30%). Judging was les by the OPM (Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit), Secretary General, Ding Dong Avanzado.

Music has always been a big part of Yahoo! and since launching OMG!, Yahoo has hosted numerous music events with success. Yahoo! said that they pay tribute to the richness and diversity of OPM and showcases the exceptional talent the Philippines have.
